Join the Band
Membership in the Port St. Lucie Community Band is open to qualified, outstanding area musicians willing to commit their time and effort to our organization.
Prospective members are requested to begin the membership process by contacting our Director or Assistant Director, either by phone at (772) 871-2863 or by sending an email to info@pslcommunityband.org.
New members should be prepared to demonstrate the following to the director’s satisfaction:
- Overall playing skills, including accurate intonation and the ability to blend into the appropriate section
- Sight-reading skills
- Ability to play two-octave scales in major keys (up to 3 sharps or flats) as well as chromatic scales
Membership is subject to the band’s current needs for instrumentation. High school musician membership is open to junior and senior year students only, subject to the requirements listed above.
Once invited to participate with the Band, prospective members are considered probationary for their first four rehearsals, for the purpose of further evaluation in a full band setting. Regular membership follows the probationary period.
Weekly rehearsals take place at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center all-purpose room (at the northwest corner of the building, nearest Walton Road) on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Get directions to the Civic Center.
