The Port St. Lucie Community Band is dedicated to providing live musical entertainment for residents of the vibrant city of Port St. Lucie, Florida and surrounding Treasure Coast communities, as well as to offering a challenging and rewarding musical experience for Band members.
About the Band
The ensemble was founded in 1989 by several local musicians, with the encouragement of city officials and support from local businesses. The ensemble has grown significantly over the years and performs annually at numerous civic and community events.
Rehearsals are held at Indian River State College (Fort Pierce campus).
Today, the band is comprised of approximately 70 amateur and professional musicians. Members include doctors, attorneys, music educators, K-12 teachers, business professionals, and outstanding local student instrumentalists.
Our membership also includes active retirees from all over the United States. A number of these individuals were former full-time professional musicians who performed with some of America’s finest bands and orchestras.
Now an important part of the community, the Band rehearses and performs several major concerts every year at the new Port St. Lucie Civic Center, a showcase city recreational and entertainment facility opened in late 2008.
We also serve the public by providing music for annual civic functions such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
Support for the Band
The Band is supported by grants from the City of Port St. Lucie, private donations, shares of ticket sale proceeds, and performance fees. The Band is a qualified 501c3 non-profit organization, and donations to support the band are fully tax deductible.
